In Memoriam: Phil Ponting, Chairman of the Board

It is with profound sadness that the FSHD Canada Foundation announces the passing of our Chairman of the Board, Phil Ponting.

Phil joined the Foundation with the same quiet dedication that defined his entire career. A retired partner of McLennan Ross, he brought wisdom, integrity, and a remarkable depth of leadership to everything he touched. Over 15 years of unwavering service, Phil was a steady and guiding hand for our organization, championing the cause of FSHD research in Canada and around the world with passion and purpose.

His contributions to the FSHD community were immeasurable. Under his leadership, the Foundation grew in reach, in impact, and in hope for the thousands of Canadians living with FSHD and the families who walk alongside them.

It is with heavy hearts that we forge ahead, knowing that Phil would want nothing more than for this mission to continue. We are eternally grateful for his generosity of spirit, his steadfast commitment, and the profound legacy he leaves behind.

Phil, you made a difference for us, for this Foundation, and for every person whose life may one day be changed by the cure we are still working to find. Thank you.
